On Women's Day, March 8, 2010, Prayas ladies visited the old age home, Sri Harihara Sudha Seva Sadan at Tirumullaivoil. A group of eight ladies left from the ECC campus around 9.30 am and first visited the Ramanadeeshwarar Temple (a 2000 year old Shiva temple at Porur which had its Kumbabhishekam recently) , stopped for darshan at the Raghavendra Swamy Temple, Tirumullaivoil and then reached the home around 11.30.
After a brief introduction of the inmates (there are 14 male and 12 females being cared for), the Prayas ladies were taken around the place (the dormitories, sick bay, meditation hall, library, tailoring and computer rooms, etc. They also had a big hall on the first floor where small functions could be held. Another hall with a separate entrance on the same floor is given for conducting free eye camps.
Soon it was time for lunch and the inmates were all seated in two rows and a simple meal cooked by themselves with help from a lady cook and helper was served. Prayas ladies also helped serve the food. As is the practice the day's meal was sponsored by Prayas Trust and some members also contributed cash and some old clothes were given to the home for distribution. Members also took fruits for the inmates. The inmates were visibly happy to see the ladies and interact with them and heartily blessed all the ladies and Prayas for their support.
